The name of the restaurant “Gandiço” is a tribute to the Arguinas, skilled stonemasons and builders from Santa Ovaia, the parish where our hotel is located. These craftsmen created their own dialect, a secret jargon that allowed them to communicate with each other without their bosses understanding what they were saying. In this unique dialect, “Gandiço” means “food”.

In our restaurant we offer a unique gastronomic experience that celebrates the authentic and natural flavours of the Iberian Peninsula. With a focus on the quality and freshness of the ingredients, our menu, created by Chef Rui Borges, is designed to captivate the most discerning palates while maintaining simplicity and delicacy in every dish.

Our friend Rui is an exceptional chef whose culinary talent only is matched by his passion for the cuisine. Native of the picturesque Serra da Estrela region, his experience working in 5-star hotels, both in Portugal and international destinations, has enriched his culinary knowledge and honed his ability to blend flavours and techniques from around the world.
